Following the success of our UnLtd cohort last year – We have received many inquiries since, as to when our next course will be for budding social business owners.

And so, thanks to RCT Council, we are able to run another free to attend course, to help individuals from across RCT with an idea to tackle a social problem, to get their ideas off the ground.

The 5-9 Club is an after-hours, nine-week course featuring a series of workshops where attendees can develop their idea into a business plan right through to launching and even seeking investment.

This course has been designed to help residents of RCT create the change they would like to see, and to make a living doing something they are truly passionate about – with all the contacts and business “know how” they need.

In collaboration with RCT Council, UnLtd and Social Business Wales – this flexible afterhours course launches July 20th, and is completely free to attend in person at Canolfan Pennar Community Hub OR online. There are 30 funded spaces available, and we are currently accepting interest.

Women sat at a table, learning.

This blended learning approach (simultaneous online and offline learning), means that we can keep the benefits of the online version of the course. such as:

Taking away the physical barriers some participants may experience with attending in person,
Providing catch up recordings of the workshops.

As well as offering participants the opportunity to get out of the isolation of their bedrooms, kitchens, garages etc.. and into a safe space to explore their idea and business model, with a group of like-minded people, mentors, and industry experts, as regularly they wish too.

This course is for anyone with just an idea for a social business, or for anyone who has been trading for up to 18 months – but perhaps something isn’t quite working as they imagined. We can help!

RCT Council said:

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is excited to be working in partnership with Welsh ICE on the delivery of the 5–9 Club business accelerator course, focussing specifically on support for social enterprise entrepreneurs.

As we all begin to build back after COVID-19, a resilient and adaptable local economy will be essential to create jobs and opportunities in our local area, and social enterprises will play a key role in supporting a fair and equitable recovery.

The 5-9 Club will provide valuable opportunities for budding entrepreneurs, enabling them to fulfil their potential and contribute to a strong and vibrant local economy in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

This fun and flexible course will:

  • Inspire and build confidence
